Built as a F-4J, this Phantom was delivered in the early 70s to the US Navy and started to serve VF-154. It was transferred to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) FOUR in '76 just after it was converted to F-4S. The Spook served as the prototype for the F-4S from Jul'77. It was later transferred to VMFA-321 and returned to VX-4 in the famous Vandy One colours (as pictured). By early '92 it was modified to QF-4S and was temporarly stored at Cherry Point up to Aug'99 and was transferred to VX-30. It was struck of charge on 17 Aug'04 and was last seen as stored at Fallon in late 2006. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
