Believed to be the only time a Mirage IV has landed in Scotland, this menacing-looking beast from l'Escadron de Bombardement 1/91 "Gascogne" diverted into the Fife base after a bird strike during a low level sortie over the North Sea. The hole on the starboard side of the nose is clearly visible, and the sheer size of the aircraft gave Leuchars Visiting Aircraft Section ground crews something of a headache and had to resort to a set of airstairs to access the Mirage crew.
