I remember MALK as being quite a nice 172 which I flew a couple of times. Sadly it was written off on 23rd July 1997 near Lochgilphead in weather conditions not dissimilar to those on the day this picture was taken. The pilot encountered bad weather and tried to turn back only to find the cloud had closed in behind him. In the ensuing attempted precautionary landing the aircraft hit a stone wall. Both occupants escaped with only minor injuries. A testament to ruggedness of the 172.
