The Portsmouth Aerocar was a twin-boom utility aircraft seating five or six people and first flown from Portsmouth on 18 June 1947. Although considered promising, it was overweight and financing could only be found in India which caused problems as India gained independence that summer. Only this prototype, powered by Cirrus Major engines, was completed. This photo was added on 2 March 2021, and has since been viewed 1600 times. |
