VH-PYZ was used to reenact the Mt Gambier to Melbourne air mail flight of 1917. The original flight had been flown by Basil Watson in a aircraft he built based on the Sopwith aircraft he had flown in the UK as a test pilot. Watson was killed soon after when his aircraft suffered structural failure while performing aerobatics near Point Cook, Victoria. VH-PYZ remained registered at the start of 2021.
