Fleet Logistics Support Squadron Six Two (VR-62) 'Nomads' was established on 1 July 1985 at NAF Detroit (MI) under the operational control of Commander, Fleet Logistics Support Wing. In February of 1988, the squadron began providing logistics support flights operating the C-9B Skytrain II. On 1 April 1994, the squadron transitioned to C-130T and moved to NAS South Weymouth (MA).
