On May 12 this Mooney was flown through a cumulonimbus cloud and got tossed around so much that the pilot lost control. Recovery from the resultant graveyard spiral induced enough g-force to make the right hand gear extend. The subsequent emergency landing with the right gear unlocked caused it to collapse and the entry step was ground down against the runway. Despite looking in good shape it is a structural write-off as the wings were bent during recovery. The aircraft has been completely gutted and sits at Victoria as of 2020.
