This 1948 built Luscombe 8F has an interesting history. In 1953, when it was US owned as N18388, the owner flew it all the way from California to Berlin and back, via Greenland and Iceland, using a school atlas for navigation. This was the subject of an article in Flying magazine at the time which the current owner kindly let me see.
