What a beautiful Dakota sitting in the middle of nowhere near the Croatian-Slovenian border. The former Yugoslav air force's 71253 commemorates an Allied landing ground for supplying Tito's partisans, hence her RAF Mediterranean markings.

On the day that the An-225 Mriya was making its first flight at Kiev in the Soviet Union, Schiphol Airport was treated with the visits of two Antonov 22s. This photo shows the second of the two, taxiing to the cargo ramp where the other one was already parked. This aircraft was built in 1975, and it is one of only a few An-22s that were still flying in 2004. The sound of its engines and eight contra-rotating props is unbelievable…

This aircraft has been under restoration for a considerable time, mostly in a hangar so it was lucky to catch it outside and looking superb. On my first visit to Gatwick in 1969 a few of these were still in service and this is now the sole survivor of the 23 built

Taken from then new international terminal. The cluster of hangars in background was best spot for aviation photographers into the 1970s. Accessible and no fences. It was declared off-limits by the mid 1970s amid greatly increased airport security. But then the area had lost its appeal as less traffic passed when the east-west runway ceased to be the main runway.

VH-AAX was an unique Australian conversion of the Beaver called the Wallaroo. It used a Garrett TPE331 engine instead of the Pratt and Whitney PT6A used in production Turbo Beavers. The conversion was carried out at Bankstown in 1969 using an aircraft drawn from the Aerial Agriculture cropduster fleet. It was converted back into a regular Beaver in 1973 and returned to agricultural flying. In 1986 it converted again to Wallaroo configuration and was being used for skydiving in 2017.
