VH-CIZ was used by Piper dealer Ansett for demonstrations and charters. It was on charter to oil and gas company Santos when it crashed at Golden Grove, South Australia, on July 13, 1972, with the loss of eight lives.
VH-CIV was an entrant in an air race at the time of the photo. Millard, a caravan manufacturer, was a sponsor. On November 1, 1983 VH-CIV was destroyed in a fatal landing accident at Biloela, Queensland.
At the Visitors Hill at MUC, a modern CRJ is framed with two great classic airliners, and opposing WWII workhorses, the Ju 52 and DC-3. Originally 41-2005, a rare C-53B, this aircraft served with several airlines in Scandinavia after the war, but not with Swissair. The real HB-IRN still exists in Lucerne.
