The KZ III two-seater first flew in occupied Denmark on 11 September 1944. It was described as an ambulance aircraft, but apparently this was just a trick to gain permissions from the Germans. This was the second prototype, which was shipped to Sweden before the end of the war.

The Saab B17 never served in the regular Danish armed forces, but a Danish brigade training in Sweden was supplied with 15 of these aircraft towards the end of WWII. They were painted in Danish colours in May 1945, but did not see action.
