This Super Puma was delivered on 11 August 1983, from then it served 802 Esc and 803 Esc. With the latter, it crashed on 25 September 2007. The Super Puma was at that time deployed to Afghanistan and was written off near Gormach while evacuating injured people after a car bombing. It is reported that a wheel of the helo hit a pothole after which it capsized. No crew was injured in the accident, and the wounded were evacuated with another helicopter. The wreck was stripped of sensitive gear, set afire and received the final kill by an USAF F-15E. wfu 05oct07 This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
