The Angel 44 is a twin STOL utility aircraft, produced in the USA since the mid-1990's. The design work started in 1972, with a prototype being built in 1977. The first flight took place on January 13, 1984 and FAA type certification was achieved on October 20, 1992. Between 1984 and 2008, only 4 aircraft were built. In 2013, Hubei Taihang Xinghe Aircraft Manufacturing of China acquired a production license. The first Chinese-built frame was completed in May 2016. On December 14, 2019 an Angel 44 crashed in a corn field near Mareeba, Queensland, Australia.
