This was the 5th of 12 DC-9s ordered by Ansett and was first flown in October 1968. It entered the Australian Register as VH-CZE on the 13th of October 1968. it was sold to Midway Airlines and entered the US Register as N931ML in July 1981 and was named "Detroit". It was later sold to Valujet Airlines and reregistered N965VV leased to Spirit Airlines and reregistered N132NK in August 1997.
