Derived from the Hurricane, the Henley was intended as a light bomber but only ordered as a target tug, fitted with a winch on the left side of the rear cockpit. 200 Henley Mk.IIIs were built by Gloster between November 1938 and September 1940, but were found to be prone to Merlin engine failures. Apparently the cooling system was not up to target towing at high engine speed but relatively low airspeed. L3261 crashed on approach to RAF Catfoss, Yorkshire, on 18 July 1939.

The Fokker S.14 first flew on May 19, 1951. It marks the first Fokker-built jet aircraft and the world first jet aircraft designed specifically for training purposes. The only orders came from the Royal Netherlands Air Force, who acquired 20 aircraft (L-1 to L-20), delivered between August 1955 and November 1956. L-3 was broken up in 1963. Just 3 out of 21 aircraft remain; 1 at the Nationaal Militair Museum at Soesterberg, one under restoration for static display at the Koninklijke Luchtmacht Historische Vlucht (KLuHV) and one at the Aviodrome in Lelystad.
