One of the C-54s acquired by KLM in 1945, and operated as military aircraft for some time. This aircraft was standing together with a DC-4 in full KLM colours which is almost certainly PH-TAR, not yet named. NL-313 was delivered to KLM at the end of 1945 and was registered in the Dutch Civilian Register on 8 January 1946 as PH-TAO but not painted on. NL-313 flew Amsterdam-New York on 27/29 March 1946. It then returned to Amsterdam. Another flight on 13/14 April 1946 continued on to Santa Monica. It then went to Glenn L. Martin, Baltimore, for conversion to seat 42 passengers. Converted to DC-4A standard by Douglas and here on lease from Braathens SAFE. The name Edda is between the captain's window and nose gear although too blurry to read here. In April 1961 it went to the Aeronavale and ended up scrapped at Nimes, France while registered F-BXOQ with France Marine Nationale.

Converted to ATL-98 Carvair in 1963 and flew with British United Air Ferries as G-ASKG. Its last assignment was with Transair cargo as 9Q-CTI and then scrapped at Kinshasa, Zaire by September 1995.

In service with Seaboard from 1958 to 1959. Later with Air Vietnam as XV-NUM, it was blown up by a hijacker after landing at Hue (UIH) on 20 February 1974. This was taken during the same period as photo 347038 yet the livery is quite different.

After the ferry flight (marking its last flight ever) to The Netherlands, the registration 'PH-DDY' was reserved but not taken up. The aircraft was used for spare parts to keep c/n 42934 (ZS-NUR, 6901, ZS-NUR, 6902, PH-DDS, ZS-AUA) airworthy. The aircraft was transported to the museum by road and displayed in Government Air Transport colors with markings NL-316. Around 2018, she was repainted to represent the PH-TAR (which did exist at some point, c/n 42923). She now makes a nice eyecatcher at the children's playground at the museum.

Operated by the USAAF around 1942 as 42-107469. Later to an unknown owner as NC53103. To N53103 around November 1946, but cancelled again a month later as it became NC-registered again. To Philippine Airlines in 1948 as PI-C102. To Thai Airways in 1951 with the same registration. To HS-POE (1953), HS-TSA (August 1958) and the Thai Air Force (after 1958, as 42-107469). To Botswana in 1967 as VQ-ZEF, later to A2-ZEF. Became ZS-IPR in 1972. To the SAAF in 1981 as 6906. Put in storage in February 1994. Then to the Dutch Dakota Association (DDA) as PH-DDY, ferried to The Netherlands in June 1997.

Previously operated with Western Airlines and American Airlines as N88784. Wrecked on 22 March 1961 near Nagpur, India when it made an emergency wheels-up landing.

First post-war operator was Eastern Air Lines as N79000, a registration it kept through at least five transfers until sale as D-ADAM in 1961. In 1963 it was converted to ATL-98 Carvair and became G-ASKN for BUAF then TR-LWP in 1976 until withdrawn from use at Brazzaville in 1978.
