Having served in East Africa since it was delivered to East African Airways in 1952, this Dakota later served with Caspair, Sunbird and Airkenya. It was written off in an accident at Maasai Mara National Reserve in February 1992 and broken up there during 1993.

Ex KN566, 44-76853. Registration cancelled on 14 February 1965 on sale to Norway as LN-RTO, and restored as G-AMPO on 17 June 1969. Registration cancelled on 18 October 2001 as permanently withdrawn from use, and later presented to the Royal Logistics Corps for display (painted as as FZ626) at RAF Lyneham. It has was moved to RAF Brize Norton for display in 2011.

ex. 43-48552, KJ874.( R.A.F. units: 108 OTU,271 Sqd,77 Sqd. ) Loaned to Smiths by the M.O.S. in 1953. It was used on a ministry contract to develop a version of SEP2 (mk 10) Autopilot. Broken up for spares in March 1964.

On the dump for fire rescue training. Its final operator was Air Ulster, which can just be seen, painted-out.

To the RAF as KN290 in January 1945. Then back to the USAF as 44-76207. Note the 48th TFW fin flash as worn by the units F-100's at this time. This aircraft was later converted to an AC-47D gunship and was shot down as such by enemy gunfire at Pleiku, Gia Lai Province in Vietnam. May 5th 1968. with 6 survivors and sadly 3 fatalities.

Registered to a Mrs. E.L.Niarchos at the time and exported as VH-SBW in 1965. Last known preserved as P2-ANQ at Port Morseby, PNG.

Here sharing the apron with a BEA Viscount and Dakota, this was the second period Starways owned the aircraft from October 1956 to December 1963. Seen at Heathrow (EGLL) in 1962 with this eye-catching yellow and blue livery. Last assignment was as a pollution control aircraft with Air Atlantique at Coventry, after which it was retired in 2001 and preserved with false serial FZ626 at RAF Lyneham.

On 21 September Dakota 6843 of the SAAF's 86 Multi-Engine Flying School suffered an in-flight fire in the vicinity of Bloemfontein in the then Orange Free State. The crew landed next to the N1 highway south of the city. This photo was taken later that month when the airframe was salvaged. It was later written off. Location is by roadside of N1 South of Bloemfontein precise details unknown.
