The fuselage reassembly is almost complete with it sitting on its main and nose gear.

Cold winter weather has stopped the painting contractor from finishing his job as evidenced by the two tone appearance of the fuselage.

Restored in 2001, this aircraft was delivered in pieces by a specially modifed C-5 from its former home at the SAC Museum.

This was the last C-133 to come off the production line at Douglas. Now at the Air Mobility Command Museum.

You never forget a C-133 flying over. The rattling of windows and china that preceded by minutes the sound its engines and its distinctive shape. For a few weeks in 1966 they came and went and overflew Sydney carrying materials in a USN communications base being built in Western Australia. The noise and vibration of the C-133 was to be its undoing, greatly shortening its airframe life. 59-0532 was withdrawn in 1971 and scrapped.

The top of the fuselage was painted white this spring by museum volunteers. This pretty much completes the restoration of this aircraft at the Air Mobility Command Museum.

This aircraft was the last C-133 produced and is nearing completion of a restoration program at the AMC Museum. The cargo ramp was scheduled to be installed the next day with wing and tail fairings shortly thereafter. Aircraft will be on display at the Dover AFB open house in late May 2002.

Northern Air Cargo used to operate two Cargomasters, which were both leased from Cargomaster Corp. in the early 1980s. Shown here is N133B, which still carries small and faded Northern Air Cargo titles on the wheel bay and 'NAC' on the fin. It also still wears serial 0-90533, as a reminder of its previous military career (ex 59-0533). Sadly this rare aircraft, one of only fifteen C-133Bs built (with the clamshell rear loading doors), was scrapped at Anchorage during 2000.

My favourite exhibit at the superb AMC Museum. One of a handful surviving out of 50 built, the Cargomaster was designed as a long-range strategic airlifter, particularly for the transport of ICBMs. All were withdrawn in 1971 when metal fatigue was found. This example was delivered to the 1501ATW (MATS) at Travis AFB, CA in 4.61, the unit becoming 60MAW in 1966. Decommissioned and to Offutt AFB, NE for the SAC Museum in 6.71; like the C-124, flown to Dover inside a C-5 when the SAC Museum relocated in 1998
