Following the death in Jan 2013 of the museum's owner Peter Vallance, some exhibits went to other museums and collections. But this Sea Vixen remained with the museum and was still part of their inventory by Apr 2019. By that time it had been safely moved indoors.

I'd been hoping for a top-side shot, but unfortunately the pilot wasn't playing ball.

Possibly my luckiest ever catch. Seen arriving at Prestwick prior to doing a flypast over the new Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier.

Aircraft was based at Llanbedr in Wales and is now preserved at Charlwood near Gatwick. The black and yellow underside stripes denote a target tug role.

Even though these striking sponsor colours allowed this magnificent aircraft to appear at various airshows between 2003 and 2007, it is not right for such a rare machine, the last flying example of its type. Luckily it was later repainted in its authentic Royal Navy markings as XP924. Unfortunately it suffered a wheels-up landing at RNAS Yeovilton on 27 May 2017, which caused extensive damage to the belly and structural frames of the centre fuselage. By mid 2018 it was still uncertain if the aircraft will ever return to the air. Sorry for the poor photo quality.
