Almost unbelievably the aircraft recovered from this and went on to serve with North American Airlines. In 1984 it was sold to Scenic Air Tours of Honolulu, but never made it there as on 5th April that year it crashed at Scottsdale, AZ., whilst on the ferry flight to Hawaii.

This first production ST-28, first flew in December 1975. The Canadian Saunders Aircraft Company had moved from Quebec to Gimli, Manitoba in 1971 to manufacture ST-27 regional airliners, which were twin turboprop conversions of second hand De Havilland Herons.
