This G-702 was retired from the Naval Air Training Command by 30 April 2012. The Turbo Mentor is preserved at Priceville (AL) since April 2017. BuNo 164173 was the very last T-34C delivered to the US Navy. They used some 350 of these trainers.

Some 25 Turbo Mentors of TAW-4 "G"-coded, based at NAS Corpus Christi (TX), and TAW-5 "E"-coded based at NAS Whiting Field-North (FL), were enjoying a summer class course in New Mexico. This E-256 was retired from the Naval Air Training Command and stored at Davis Monthan's 309th AMARG on 1 December 2011.

Still basically in the markings of its last active unit, the Navy Recruiting Command. After leaving there, it was loaned to the Jacksonville Navy Flying Club w/FAA registration N20685. On 26 August 2000 it was involved in a landing mishap at NAS Jacksonville which damaged the right wing. It was then transferred to the museum in 2004 where it was modified for use in the Kiddyland area in the main building. Normally the canopies are open for access to the cockpits, but are currently closed due to Covid restrictions (2021). Originally built as T-34B BuNo. 143996.
