One for the history books. REDjet was a startup low-cost carrier based at Grantley Adams, the airline operated its first flight on the date this picture was taken. It ceased operations on 8 June 2012.

First flight at Long Beach August 12th 1980, delivered new to SR September 12th 1980 as HB-INC named "Thurgau", and it became the very first MD-80 to go into airline service. Used by Swissair until March 1996, the final years it was remaed to "Lugano". 1996 to SAS as SE-DMX for four years until July 2000. Last operator was Aero Republica as HK-4265. 2007 wfu and stored at Cali, Columbia. Broken up in 2009

Delivered to Austrian Airlines as DC-9-81 OE-LDW in 1982. Converted to a DC-9-82 then to Sun Air as ZS-OBH in 1997, Air Liberte in 2000 and reregistered as F-GPZD in 2001. To Macedonian Airlines as ZS-OBH in 2003 then to Kulula in 2004. Withdrawn from use at Johannesburg in 2007 and scrapped in 2009.

An evening view at LTN. Behind the MD-80 is a Sterling Boeing 727-200. Delivered new to Austrian as OE-LDW on 20 Feb 1982 so only 6 months old when this shot was taken. Converted to an MD-82 in Mar 1997. To ZS-OBH with Safair / Sun Air on 15 May 1997. To Air Liberte as F-GPZD on 27 Mar 2000. Back to ZS-OBH and leased to Macedonian Airlines 03 Jul 2003. Stored Jo'Burg JNB by 12 Nov 2007. Since scrapped.

First flew as N13627 in 1979 then reregistered as N1002W in 1980 and delivered to Austrian Airlines as OE-LDP in 1981. To Spirit Airlines as N810NK in 1999. Withdrawn from use at Opa-Locka, FL in 2005 and scrapped in 2006.

First flight at Long Beach October 8th 1985, delivered to SAS as their 3rd MD-81 October 26th 1985, named "Trygve Viking", March 1993 converted to MD-82 as renamed "Vegard Viking". October 1993 renamed "Kettil Viking", (changed name with LN-RLR). 1995 LN-RLE repainted into red special colours dor domestic flying in Sweden (together with LN-RMD which was blue. 2002 or 2003 LN-RLE repainted to the new SAS colours. January 31st 2013 wfu and stored at OSL and in June ferried to Arkansa (KBYH) as spareship for Delta Air Lines reg N483DN. and later scrapped after 27 yeara of flying for SAS.

Delivered to Swissair as DC-9-81 HB-INO in 1981. Converted to a DC-9-82 for TWA as N922TW in 1997. Withdrawn from use at Roswell, NM in 2003, still there in 2018. Later scrapped.

Delivered new to SAS as the third MD-82 named "Assur Viking" December 20th 1985, with config Y156 mainly for domestic serivces. Seen arriving rwy 24 that saturday from Bergen. June 1991 leased to Spanair for 4 months, and same in 1992 The in November 1993 sub-leased to Nordic East for one year. Back in SAS October 31st 1994. December 13th 1999 rr LN-ROR, still "Assur Viking" and repainted to new SAS colours, and reconfig CY150. wfu April 2009. Converted to MD-83 for Allegiant Air as N429NV March 2010. Also visible is the roof of tje odl Freight terminal to give way for the new C-Pier in 1988.
