Preserved with the Confederate (as it then was) Air Force; when they transferred their headquarters from Harlingen to Midland, TX., the aircraft was reportedly returned to the USAF, but it is feared to have been broken up on site.

Preserved at Pease AFB, NH from around 1978. Moved to Whiteman AFB, MO in 1991.

The aircraft is displayed outside the Don Q Inn, Dodgeville, Wisconsin; it arrived at the now closed airport just across the road from the Inn in October 1977, was taxied to its present position and has remained there ever since.

Built in 1949 as N90947 for American Overseas Airlines which merged into Pan American World Airways in September 1950. Withdrawn by them in 1961, it was sold to Israel Aircraft Industries as 4X-AOD and then to the Israeli Air Force as 4X-FOG in November 1962. The aircraft was converted to a Boeing 377M and re-registered 4X-FPX/098 in February 1964 and made several more visits to Gatwick as such before being finally withdrawn from service in September 1975.

The aircraft was later civilianised as N49548 and in 1984 was flown to Le Bourget for Guppy conversion by UTA. This was not proceeded with and it was loaned to the Musee de l'Air but they passed it on to Nancy-Essey for the local air museum, but when this went bankrupt the aircraft was broken up in January 2005. However the tail section was saved and is now exhibited at Plzen-Zruc airpark in the Czech Republic.

Aero Spacelines 377MG Mini Guppy, N422AU, at Chico Airport, CA in Jan. 1985. Boeing 377 delivered new to Pan Amercian World Airlines in Sep. 1949 as N1073V. Retired in 1960. To Boeing and then Aero Spacelines. Converted to Mini Guppy c1963-1967. First flight May 24, 1967. To American Jet Industries as N1037V and in Oct 1977 to N422AJ. To Aero Union July 1981. To Erikson Air Crane in late 1980s to transport S-64E/F Skycrane helicopters. To Tillamook Air Museum at KTMK in mid-1990s. Displayed outside Airship Hangar B (Jack Erickson moved his private collection from KTMK to Madras, OR in 2013)
