On display at the exhibition "Reaching for the Sky: The History of Columbus Aviation" at the Columbus Historical Society's gallery at COSI. I'm reasonably confident this aircraft was formerly part of the collection of the Ohio History of Flight Museum at (then) Port Columbus, and had been put into storage there when the museum closed in 2000. Unfortunately I have not been able to determine if it was ever registered, or had a c/n assigned by its builder. After this exhibition, she was returned to the Historical Aircraft Squadron museum, at the nearby Fairfield County Airport in Lancaster.

Parked outside the Champaign Museum's hangar during MERFI, still in her previous outfit as an air tanker. Though on the FAA registry as N381EC, she doesn't wear it. Ex 44-35948, but was never delivered to the USAAF, instead went directly to the RFC and storage at Kingman AFB, AZ. Had some On Mark modifications fitted during her long and varied career, but these were apparently removed during the tanker conversion.

Registered in June 1934 to the Evening News Association and operated by The Detroit News. A radio reporter could broadcast from inside the aircraft and there was a camera installed in the fairing on the left wing (visible by the man wearing a trilby hat). The Orion was commandeered in 1942 by the Defense Supplies Corp as UC-85 serial 42-62601. Released in 1944 and restored as NC799W, it was scrapped after an accident in November 1947 at Los Angeles. The Aeronca LW was the prototype of the L-series and originally had a 2-cylinder 40hp Aeronca E-113-C engine, with which it was painfully under-powered. It was replaced by a 5-cylinder 60hp LeBlond 60 engine, as here. Registered as above in 1935 and the first four characters are visible under the wing. Fate unknown. The Atlantic Fokker F.14 was a different aircraft from the Dutch Fokker F.XIV, having a parasol wing and cockpit aft of the cabin. The US Army placed a large order for 20 examples in 1931. These Y1C-14 aircraft were distributed over various airfields. The Y1 prefix, dropped in 1933, indicated 'funding from outside normal fiscal year procurement'. This airframe, 31-400, was fitted with the latest R-1820 Cyclone engine for evaluation at Wright Field, designated (Y1)C-14A. Dutch sources give construction number 1820. Photo from: US Air Force
