Lockheed Neptune 147969 served with the US Navy from 1960 to 1980. After retirement from Fleet Composite Squadron Eight (VC-8) based at NAS Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico the aircraft was flown to CFB Greenwood, Nova Scotia on Aug. 27, 1980 to join the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum. Painted as the first of 25 RCAF Neptunes delivered in 1955 to replace the Avro Lancaster. California Airframe Parts Co. bought the surviving RCAF Neptunes for parts in 1970, but three were sold to Flying Firemen in Victoria, BC to be air tankers. These aircraft were never operated in Canada and sold in the US.

A total of 1832 Avro Anson Mk II were built in Canada by five companies including 340 built by Canadian Car & Foundry in Amherst, NS (including No. 7135). Delivered to the RCAF in August 1942, it was assigned to No. 4 Training Command in November 1942, and allocated to No. 15 Service Flying Training School at Claresholm, Alberta in April 1943. Postwar, it was stored at RCAF Vulcan, AB and sold to a farmer and recovered by aviation enthusiasts many decades later. The restoration team spent 5.5 years and a total of 16,528 volunteer man-hours restoring this aircraft which was completed in 2009.

This Air Saint-Pierre ATR42 is based in the French overseas territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon which is an archipelago of eight islands located off the southwest coast of Newfoundland. It usually flies schedule services between St-Pierre (FSP) and Halifax (CYHZ) (607 km) and St-Pierre and Montreal (CYUL) (1,363 km). It was photographed through the fence from the airport viewing lot on the southwest side of YHZ airport.

The second aircraft for Shillelaghs Travel Club, this Electra replaced their DC-7 (N5050S) in 1972. After de-regulation in the USA, Shillelaghs turned to commercial airlines to provide their member's transportation. N125US was sold to JBQ Aviation in 1986 and converted to a freighter. The aircraft was broken up at Miami, FL in December 1989.

Fitted with sensor boom for mineral exploration. Registered as N734R in 1967 then to the Canada Department Of Energy, Mines & Resources as CF-GSC in 1968, C-FGSC from 1974. Sold as N101FX in 1996. Cancelled from the register in 2009.

Forced landed on remote Sable Island after the crew realised returning to their base at Dartmouth was no longer possible. Reports say the aircraft landed in a freshwater lagoon and a lighthouse keeper altered authorities. The crew were flown back to base in a Catalina but the aircraft was abandoned. An immaculate Millardair DC-3. Originally Air Force 43-15161 that was not retired until June 22, 1960. Sold to Aero American Corp (N87644), it was brought to Canada by Carl Millard in November 1978. Sold in the USA an N117MV in 1985 as C-117s were bought to upgrade the fleet. Eventually going to the Fuerza Aerea Colombiana (FAC 1635), it was last seen derelict at Bogotá still with the Millardair cheat line.

Built for inventor Alexander Graham Bell to test his tetrahedral structure. Much simpler triplane configuration compared with the AEA Cygnet unsuccessfully tested in 1909. Attempted test flights with the Oionus on the day of the photo saw three wheels lift off but not all four. Melting ice ended any further attempts to fly it. Photo from: Ken Molson fonds - Ingenium

Design commissioned by Boston resident Gardiner Greene Hubbard II and built at Baddeck by Canadian Aerodrome Company. The Hubbard attended the 1910 Montreal Aviation Meet but its owner was unable to coax it into the air because it was underpowered. Yes, this is a real aircraft and yes it did fly - eventually. But it required more power than in 1909 and even then it was only in ground effect as the Cygnet III. Soon after the March 1, 1912 hop the tetrahedral cell wing collapsed, ending the project. Baddeck was the centre of Canadian aviation development with famous inventor Alexander Graham Bell a local resident and keen proponent of aviation. This Dash 8 was delivered to Air Ontario June 18, 1987 and occasionally leased to fellow Air Canada Commuter Air Alliance until Air Canada Regional / Jazz was formed in 2002. It's pictured during a rare (and short) sub-lease from Air Alliance to competitor Air Atlantic from May through July 1993 as the only exception. Air Canada Express withdrew aircraft from service in 2016.
