Later sustained substantial damage , in November 2012, due to a left main gear collapse on landing at Yellowknife. Then in September 2015 suffered engine failure some way short of its flight destination, Norman Wells. Unable to maintain altitude, a forced belly landing had to be made on the gravel airstrip at Déline in very poor weather conditions. The aircraft considerably overran the runway. The crew evacuated safely. The aircraft was a write-off.

This aircraft was built in 1985 and has first been operated by Conair Aviation before joining Buffalo Airways . It appears that this airframe has been modified to CL-415 standard in early 2021 by Viking Air, the owner of the type certificate. The modification mainly consists of new and more powerful turbine engines, plus structural changes on the wing tips and elevator / horizontal stabilizer.
