Connellan Airways' Twin Bonanza was registered VH-CLQ(1) on 23 February 1966. It was damaged in an accident 42NM south of Alice Springs on 24 April 1970. This photo shows it evidently stripped for parts a few months later. The date 18/8/70 is sprayed on the fuselage in silver paint, believed to be the date of this image.

Immediately after the war the USAAF sent this B-29 to Australia so that Australians could see what the famous aircraft looked like and also donate to a War Bond drive. It was re-named 'Waltzing Matilda' for the tour, which included every major city in Australia, as well as many smaller ones, from 17-31 October 1945. Previously assigned to the 459th Bombardment Squadron, 330th Bombardment Group of the 20th Air Force, whose badge it wears on the fin. Seen in company with Spitfire VIII A58-303 of RAAF 1 APU, probably over Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne. (CAHS/Stanley Brogden collection)

While operating a scheduled airline service from Wau to Bulolo and Lae, VH-EBQ crashed in Huon Gulf, 4 miles south of Lae Aerodrome while attempting to land at Lae in low cloud and rain. Originally thought to be due to VFR flight into bad weather, the centre propeller (seen here) was subsequently found to have shed a blade in flight and torn the engine out of its mounts, causing the pilot to lose control.

While operating a scheduled airline service from Wau to Bulolo and Lae, VH-EBQ crashed in Huon Gulf, 4 miles south of Lae Aerodrome while attempting to land at Lae in low cloud and rain. Originally thought to be due to VFR flight into bad weather, the centre propeller was subsequently found to have shed a blade in flight and torn the engine out of its mounts, causing the pilot to lose control.

This was the first of the new generation of modern, all-metal, American airliners in Australia. It was registered new to Holyman's Airways on 5 May 1936. Holyman's later became ANA. The aircraft was struck off and broken up at Essendon on 19 December 1947. This photo is probably after repairs following an accident at Forrest on 2 February 1942. The port undercarriage hit a boulder and collapsed, and the strut went through the wing. The propeller was also damaged. (CAHS/Ivan Hodder collection)

Built in 1989 and registered new in Australia on 9 August that year, VH-EKD was one of a number of then very modern SAAB 340s purchased by Kendell Airlines. It's still going strong 31 years later, now as a freighter.
