This abandoned Convair is hiding in a remote corner of the airport of Morelia, near the end of the runway. An unpaved path leads to this airplane. It can also be clearly seen from highway 48-D, but not from the airport terminal. Google Earth shows the airplane painted in bright colors but these have faded or have been washed away in the Mexican climate. What now remains is a decorative cover that looks like urban-graffiti. If you look closely you can still read the registration XB-GNM on the tail and dorsal fin. Also note the very faded "Cariboo" titles on the fuselage, from its time with North Cariboo Flying Service as C-GRWW in the early and mid 1980s.

Ex AeroMéxico aircraft with Biblioteca en las Nubes titles. This means Library in the Clouds. It looks like an abandoned project, as there were no functioning gates around this compound and the airplane was starting to get overgrown by the surrounding vegetation. They tried to remove the registration but it was still a little visible on the fuselage.

Former AeroMexico DC-9 parked inside a childeren playground north of the town. Google Earth shows the airplane there until at least 2019 still in full AeroMexico colours. But now in already fading bright decorations, and in large capital letters the name of the town on the fuselage. Compliments to still have the full registration visible !

Preserved in a citypark on the southern end of the city of Morelia. Full of stickers about the regional government of Michoacan. The registration is still showing on the top of the wings.

There is something that looks like a salvage yard on this disused airfield. It is just outside the village of Tzurumútaro, Michoacan, Mexico. The registration was placed on the engine cowling, so was no longer visible. But XC-PGN was taken from various databases. Confirmed with the colours, which were the same when this Citation was still flying for PGR-Procuraduría General de la República.

This airfield in the sate of Michoacan is no longer in operation. The grass runway is now in use by grazing cattle. There are however still some areas that are fenced off and look like in use by a salvage yard. This DC-9 was wfu at Morelia and later moved to this very remote location. A distance of at least 80km by road.
