Owner John Reffett flew this Flying Boxcar from Anchorage to Palmer on 12 Oct 2001, with the intention of using it for cargo flights. However, the aircraft never flew again, despite John's efforts. On 10 Dec 2014 this aircraft did three high-speed taxi runs at Palmer, and at the time the first post-restoration flight was expected "very soon". But by 2018 it still hadn't materialised. John's other Boxcar N1394N is seen behind.

Acquired by Bush Air Cargo more than a year earlier and operated by them, but titles not yet applied. Still has "44896" clearly visble on the fin (vertically), which indicates that this fin came from DC-3 NC44896 c/n 9665.

Tanker 46 relaxing in the nice Alaskan morning sun, still completely unaware of how busy the afternoon and evening would become following the outbreak of the Parks Highway Fire just a few hours later.

Recently acquired by the Alaska Department of Forestry and carries their logo, but it had not been painted in their striking yellow colours yet.

No titles on this smokejumper plane, but it does carry Bighorn's nice colours and has their logo on the fin.

The Evangel 4500-300 was built by the Evangel Aircraft Corp of Orange City, IA from the late 1960s through the early 1970s. It is a STOL design intended for bush operations, notably for use by missionary aviation groups providing humanitarian services to remote locations in South America. Only eight were built, and a 9th airframe was never completed. The one seen here is the prototype c/n 001. It has "Golovin" written on the wingtip, referring to Golovin, AK where it once served. This aircraft has been an Alaska resident for many years, but it was registered to Jim Salazar from Pasadena, CA on 25 April 2018, and may by now have moved south.

Resident in Alaska since 1978. The auxiliary fuel tank under the fuselage and the winter vent system on the engine give this Beaver its somewhat unusual looks. This aircraft served with the Netherlands Air Force as S-1 from 1956 until 1974.

Six weeks after this photo was taken, the pilot of this aircraft lost control during step-taxi training on Seven Mile Lake due south of Big Lake, AK. This lovely little Beaver collided with the lake shore and some trees, and was substantially damaged. The aircraft was repaired but soon thereafter transferred to the US Department of the Interior. In June 2008 it was reregistered as N720. Note the "Civil Air Patrol - USAF Auxiliary" logo on the door.

Note the "Civil Air Patrol - USAF Auxiliary" logo on the door. The Civil Air Patrol was formed in December 1941 as a non-profit volunteer organisation, serving as the civilian auxiliary of the USAF. Among other services they provide disaster relief and search and rescue flights.

Two years later this lovely Otter was unfortunately converted into one of those ugly turbine Otters, a fate suffered by far too many of its kind.
