This Douglas-built B-17 spent many years on a civil career in Bolivia, starting in 1957 as CP-627. It crashlanded at La Paz in Aug 1968 and was rebuilt using major parts from another civil B-17 (CP-580 c/n 9300), effectively changing it into a composite airframe. After repairs it became CP-891 and continued to operate from La Paz until its delivery to the March Field Air Museum in Oct 1981. It was initially given the fake serial "230092", but in 1999 it was repainted with its actual former serial, seen in this photo. The nose art is only carried on the left side.

Wfu from USAF service in Oct 1972 and placed on display at Fresno ANGB, CA. Remained there in California Air Guard markings until at least 1979, but its whereabouts in the 1980s are less certain. It reportedly spent some years at Hurlburt Field, FL (falsely painted as "43010"), but this is unconfirmed. In March 1990 it arrived at the March Field Air Museum in unmarked olive drab paint with no serial. That paint was removed in 2004, and in 2008 it was finally restored to its original California Air Guard markings, as seen here.

Following a varied civil career (since 1949, lastly as N505R), this Lodestar was acquired by the museum in August 1983. It was initially painted in fake USAAC markings as '833538', but by 2000 it was restored in these somewhat unrealistic US Navy markings with its actual former serial 12473.

The nose art on this side of this B-29 is a tribute to the 4th Marine Division, which in little more than a year participated in four successful amphibious assaults, respectively on Roi-Namur (Jan 1944), Saipan (Jun 1944), Tinian (Jul 1944) and Iwo Jima (Feb 1945). On the other side it carries a very different "Three Feathers III" nose art. This B-29 was salvaged from NAS China Lake in 1974 and stored at Daggett - Barstow, CA as N3299F. On 5 Aug 1981 it was flown from there to March ARB, on delivery to the museum.

Falsely painted as "2365" (41-22365), and often incorrectly quoted as ex 41-1306, but this Valiant is in fact ex USAAF 41-21487 (confirmed from a plate in the cockpit). At the time of this photo this aircraft was normally on display inside the museum hangar, and it is seen here on a rare outing. Some sources quote it as ex N56488, but that was c/n 74-5325.

The S-55QT (Quiet Technology) conversion was started by Orlando Helicopter in the mid 1980s and continued by Vertical Aviation Technology (VAT) in the 1990s, at the request of Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters who needed quieter helicopters for their sight-seeing flights. It features a 5-blade rotor instead of the standard 3-blade one, revised engine intakes and exhausts, and noise-suppressing engine covers. It also has extra large windows to improve the passenger's view. The conversion was certified in December 1999. This example still carries its old Papillon colours.

This S-55QT (Quiet Technology) conversion previously flew sight-seeing flights over the Grand Canyon with Papillon Helicopters, hence the large windows. It also still carries their colours.

ATAC operates an impressive fleet of Hawker Hunters. This example is the former J-4031 of the Swiss Air Force. It became G-BWFR in July 2006, cancelled on export to Canada in March 2008 but no Canadian registration was allocated. Instead it became N328AX in August 2008.

The Hunter is a rare sight in US skies, or nowadays anywhere in the world, but ATAC operated more than a dozen of them at the time. This one is ex Swiss Air Force J-4090, which became G-SIAL in January 1999. It was cancelled on export to Canada in March 2008 but no Canadian registration was allocated. Instead it became N330AX in August 2008.

One of ATAC's Kfirs, of which they operated six examples at the time. This one is the former 822 of the Israeli Air Force. It was registered to ATAC as N402AX on 21 Sep 2005, but was seen flying with them as "822KF" well before that date. It was reportedly registered as N822KF on 20 Nov 2002, but mysteriously the official US registers between Nov 2002 and Sep 2005 show no record of that registration.
