Delivered new 19th Oct 1964 and sold to FedEx as N502FE Apr 1989

Originally delivered 1980 to Braniff as N476BN. USAir to 1983 as N780AL, before re-registered 1988 to this registration. Then in ATA as N766AT from 1993 - 2003, before converted to cargo and fly in DHL c/s until 2008.

A look at this superb Mallard from the other side. It went on to fly with Panamanian, Thai, American and various Canadian registrations until finally returning to the USA circa 2010 with Pacific Flying Boats as N54GZ.

Built in 1976 as G-BEDR, serving as the company demonstrator. Sold to Air Ecosse (Scotland) in 1978. Sold in July 1981 and prepared for onward sale to the US, Operated as N420WA for Wings Airways (USA) until 1992, when it was withdrawn from use and put into storage. Became YV943C for Transaven in 1998. To Aerolamsa in July 2004. Went to Aeroferinco (Mexico) before being purchased by Vision Air (Haiti) in September 2009. To GECA Servicios Aereos (Dominican Republic) in 2014 as HI962 (still visible on the #2 engine). Registered as N928MJ to AiroJet Parts Inc. on 24 October 2019.

Became N4296E in Jul 83. Reported as still operational in 2005. It may have remained operational after that, however, it was cancelled from the register in Jun 2013.

It was by this time privately owned after being purchased Mar 79 from the US Marshal District of Nevada who had seized it circa 78/79. It changed owners again and on 15 Feb 80 was again seized, this time by the US Customs Service at Tico Airport FL, with dope on board. Sold on again but nothing known after 1984. Eventually struck off the register Jun 2013.

It had been withdrawn from use since Jan 79. I have also seen an entry stating that it was converted to a Gulfstar I in 1959. Was the Learstar II a further conversion?

It once operated with BOAC as G-AGIK from Mar 44 to Jul 45. After that it went to the Royal Norwegian Air Force as 2594. Then to LN-UXB and SE-BTG before returning to the USA as N94532 in 1951. Registered N202H in Aug 64. Last noted at Opa Locka in Apr 84. I found nothing after that.

Ex. N302GA, N522SB, N339A, N684AT, N774AK. In February 2018 it was pictured in similar poor condition at Okeechobeee, Florida. On 21 August 2022 the aircraft had filed a flight plan from Toluca (Mexico) to Oranjestad (Aruba). South of Jamaica, the aircraft vanished from radar and was later found abandoned in El Zompopero, San Luis, Petén (Guatemala). It had been intentionally crash landed there while trafficking narcotics. No arrest were made and no narcotics were found. Photo/video evidence shows a quite well executed landing. When I took the photo I initially thought that this was the end of line for the aircraft but with the above knowledge in mind it may have been waiting for maintenance.

Titles are on the sticker with a caricature of a mosquito. Later on in life this aircraft was sold to Australia and crashed on take-off from Oakland CA. on 7 Mar 93. It was en route to Honolulu on its delivery flight. The probable cause given in the NTSB report was "A premature lift off and inadvertent stall by the pilot-in-command. Contributing to the accident was insufficient available aircraft performance data after a ferry tank installation and both pilot's lack of total experience in the airplane."

The prototype Cessna NGP (Next Generation Piston) aircraft, which first flew on 23rd June 2006. Constructed incorporating composite materials and intended to replace the Model 182 and others. After further development work the project was reportedly 'frozen but not abandoned'.

Registered to Atlas Aircraft Corporation Jul 79. Re-reg N841TA Apr 80. Later to Trans-Air-Link. Exact fate uncertain but it was seen stored at Melbourne FL in 2001.

Sold in Thailand as HS-TPB in 1992.

Reregistered N79HA in 1983.

Started life in Jul 54 as OO-CTP with SABENA. It also later operated with the Belgian Air Force as KY-4. To SFAir (France) in 1977 as F-BYCJ. Registered to Atlas Aircraft Corporation in Sep 79. Sold to Miami Air Lease in Apr 80. Struck the water and broke up near Bimini, Bahamas, 28 Nov 80. It was reportedly on a clandestine flight.

Sadly not looking as presentable as it was in Bob Garrard's great picture of it in 1968. It was used for evacuation training between 1982-86 and broken up sometime after that.
