An early morning, foggy and cold war, departure of a 9th Strategic Reconaissance Wing / Detachment 4 Blackbird from its detachment homebase Mildenhall.

SR-71 ops at RAF Mildenhall was from Apr'76 to 1990. Prior to Det.4 being established, UK permission was required for each sortie flown. The SR's stay was to be no longer than 20 days for each visit. On 5 Apr'82 PM Margaret Thatcher announced that Det.4 would be a permanent SR-71 Detachment with two Habu's assigned. Det.4 ceased operations on 22 Nov'89 with a final departure on 18 Jan'90. #964 is seen here on the approach of Mildenhall following a cold war mission.

The East Germany Air Force took delivery of this Fishbed in October 1973 and said goodbye to it on 3 October 1990. A month before that, this pciture was made at the flightline of Preschen where the aircraft served Jagdgeschwader 3. The Luftwaffe took charge of it as serial 23+40 where it was withdrawn from use in July 1991. The aircraft is preserved in the Deutches Museum Oberschleissheim as 687 since May 1994.

This MiG-21 was delivered to the National Volks Armee in May 1975, it served Jagdgeschwader Neun but was then transferred to JG3 at Preschen. On 3 October 1990 the Fishbed went to the Luftwaffe as 23+48. The Luftwaffe retired the aircaft at Rothenburg in July 1991. This MiG is preserved as 22+28 in the Motor Technica Museum at Bad Oeynhausen since 1994.

This MiG-21 was delivered to the National Volks Armee in Aug'69 and was eventually transferred to the Luftwaffe on 3 Oct'90 as 22+84. It was withdrawn from use at Rothenburg in July 1991 and then moved for preservation at Volkmarsen in Jan'97. The MiG was then seen in Bremen with Skeikh Automobilen in 1999 and in Bünde in front of a beverage store in a ugly glosse blue colorscheme with Pepsi stickers from Apr'05. The MiG was again moved, this time to Nörvenich where the Top Getränkemarkt preserved it from Jun'08. It was last seen preserved in Zehdenick from Sep'12 as serial 579.

This 1975 built MiG-21 is seen while turning toward the taxiway of Preschen for another mission. The aircraft was eventually transferred to the Luftwaffe as 23+46. It was withdrawn from use at Rothenburg in July 1991. The MiG is preserved at Emlichheim (Kunstpark Olmes) from July 2002.

This former USAF F-16A was delivered from the 309th AMARG storage depot at Davis Monthan (AZ) via the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill AFB (UT) for refubishment to the Aeronautica Militare Italiana on 15 March 2001. The aircraft returned to the USA on 28 May 2012 and is now stored again at the 309th.

An UNHAS DC-9-32 in Afghanistan, quite a challenge to fly an aircraft like this over a war-torn area. Opeations from Kandahar are well secured, but many other airfields where this aircraft operated from were less secured. The 1979 built DC-9-32 was eventually, after its long career that started with Texas International Airlines and Continental Airlines, withdrawn from use in 2012. The nine is now permanently stored at Johannesburg where it was last-noted mid-2016.

This SA227DC started its career as N3028U with Fairchild Aircraft Corp. in Jun'94, it was sold later that year as B-3950 to Hainan Airlines where it flew up to mid-2001. The metro was incorperated with Alta Flight as C-GKAF in Aug'01 and flew with the same registration from Mar'02 onwards with QuikAir Airline Services. Then the black side came along, from 30 Mar'05, Presidential Airways (PA) accepeted the Metro in its inventory. PA was at that time the cover for Blackwater, a US private mil contractor. In nov'10 AAR Airlift (also a cover) became the owner. It was canx from US register 24apr17.

A 1967 UH-1H seen at Fresno. This Huey was sold via the Foreign Military Sales programme to the Philippines as 17764/764 in May 1998.

This Huey was once delivered as a UH-1D but is converted to UH-1H. The helicopter is currently preserved at VFW Post 6586, off Mississippi highway 42 on the west side of the town. It is here seen at its then homebase Fresno.

This Huey was last seen in the States at Temple-Draughon MAP (TX) in March 2003 before it was delivered as spare part to the Philippines in December 2004. The helicopter most probably does not exist anymore.
