During a routine training flight near NAS Fallon (NV), two CH-46s from HMM-764 were executing a tactical formation flight but they came too close to eachother. One Frog turned in the formation over the other. The rotor blades of the lower helicopter chopped through the fuselage just behind the crew front door of this 153358, killing two Marines. The pilots managed to autorotate to the ground and survived. The crew in the other aircraft were uninjured. Here 153358, in the old green colours, can be seen at the flightline of El Toro.

During a 1986/1987 cruise, this nice UH-1N was detached to the USS Saipan (a US Navy ship) rather than the US Marine Amphibious Unit (MAU) that was embarked at the ship. The UH-1N was used for liaison missions as well as safe guard operations during MAU operations.

The Happy Hooligans of the 178th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the North Dakota Air National Guard , based at Fargo (ND) operated the mighty F-4D from 1977 to 1990. Then they swapped to F-16A/B. The mission for the squadron changed massively in 2007 when they transitioned to C-21A Learjet and shortly after to MQ-1B Predator Unmanned Aerial Systems. The Happy Holligan visited a small air show at Willow Run (IN) in 1989.
