Prince Bernard had himself celebrated in several cities on his birthday and then flew off from the highway near Schiphol - war damage was so extensive that the runways were unusable. The aircraft wears a pseudo RAF registration with ML presumably standing for Militaire Luchtvaart. Built in 1934 it was orginally F-AMXO and made a flight to Madagascar. To PH-VYG in 1937. Requisitioned by Dutch army as 961 in 1939. Hidden away for the Germans and 'seized' by Bernhard in 1945. To PH-NCP. Landed in East Germany on a flight to Copenhagen in 1948. Built by Personal Plane Services from G-ACGS & G-ACLZ. To Switzerland in September 2003 as HB-ODD (ntu), to New Zealand as ZK-AGS. Restored to Mark Miller as G-ACGS in June 2016. Reported as on rebuild at Audley End in February 2020.

VH-UUG was bought by pioneering Australian woman pilot Nancy Bird (later Nancy Bird Walton). It replaced her DH60 VH-UTN, seen here in the background. At the time Bird was using her aircraft to fly nurses to remote communities and properties from a base at Bourke, NSW. The operation was later moved to Cunnamulla, Queensland. Built in 1934 and impressed into the RAF as X9381 during WW-II. Here locally based with the Alvis Car & Engineering Company and taking part in the weekend festivities. Current in 2022 as per Photo ID: 9220.

Later that month it was placed on the UK Register as G-ATFU, on 30 June 1965. It was cancelled from the register on 7 Nov.1996.

G-ACLX was used to survey the route of the Mildenhall-Melbourne air race that took place later in 1934. The D.H.85 crashed in Tanzania on August 23, 1934 on a flight from South Africa to Amsterdam, killing the then Dutch owner. He had kept the aircraft on the UK register.
