Photo appears to show NZ3246 in open storage at RNZAF Rukuhia, as Hamilton aerodrome was known then. Hundreds of World War II surplus aircraft were held in open storage there, cockpit canopies open to the weather, pending sale to scrap merchants. This was the fate of NZ3246. Australian warbird Harvard VH-SFY is painted as NZ934. It has the code "34" in line with normal RNZAF practice. However the real NZ934 carries the code 14 in this photo, presumably a stencilling error. VH-SFY does have two unusual features of NZ934 - the serial on the rudder instead of the fuselage and and the sash on the rear fuselage. The RNZAF used bands. NZ934 was sold for scrap in 1958.
