Chanute AFB was still active when I took this slide. This F-100C was redesignated a GF-100C in February 1963 and was used as a ground instructional airframe at Chanute AFB until September 1974. The pilot had a good ejection, but during his descent the wind blew his parachute into the burning aircraft wreckage and he perished.
