This Skyhawk served as the prototype for the A-4F. It was modified from an A-4E and designated NA-4F for some time before it was transferred to TOP GUN. The aircraft crashed on short-finals of NAS Miramar on 30 November 1989. The A-4F was nearly the same as an Echo, but it was equipped with a nose wheel steering, wing lift spoilers, and an upgraded ejection seat.

This Skyhawk was once assigned to the USMC and served VMA-311 as WL-22. It was thanked for its service and transferred to the US Navy (VC-2 as JE-10). As such it was stored at AMARC with inventory code 3A524 in 1978. It was returned to service and TOP GUN was happy with the skooter. The aircraft carried modex 52, 57 and 55 before it was transferred to VF-45 as AD-600 at NAS Oceana in the early 1991s. Since July 1994, the A-4E is preserved at NAS Key West (FL) as AD-106.

This NFWS F-14A Tomcat was one of the highlights of the 1992 NAS Miramar Air Show. It is in full Iranian c/s and was supposedly scheduled to be the 80th Tomcat delivery for Iran. Due to sanctions the deliveries stopped and Iran only received 79.

Of course there were plenty of Top Gun Aircraft at the 1992 NAS Miramar Air Show. One of which was this F-16N of the Navy Fighter Weapon School.
