Not in fact KLM's first Super DC-8 as might be assumed, this one was originally going to be PH-DEB and served from 11.67 till sold to Capitol as N908CL in 11.83. To Emery 10.84 and registered N950R a year later after freighter conversion; stored at Smyrna, TN from 2003 and scrapped 10 years later
New in 8.68, sold to Emery in 11.84 and registered N964R after freighter conversion in 9.85, going on to Al-Dawood as 9G-CAD in 9.02; became ZS-PRD in 11.05 and seen in store at JNB 1.07/9.08 still in basic Emery colours with Fair Aviation sticker
Taxiing up to the threshold of 33R is KLM's 'Sir Frank Whittle', later re-registered PH-BUU. Leased by Phuket Airlines as HS-VAC in 2004 after storage, sub-leased twice by Saudi Arabian and parked at Bangkok's old airport from 2.09; an engine detached during take-off from Cairo in July 2010 and the aircraft returned, remaining stored there.
