A65-123 was attached to No. 86 Transport Wing when the wing was transferred to Canberra in a VIP role. 1954 was the year Queen Elizabeth II visited Australia. Due to lack of suitable RAAF aircraft, a Qantas Constellation and a TAA Convair 240 were chartered. But for smaller airports A65-123 was used. It had the Queen's crest in place of the 86 Wing crest. A23-123 continued in a VIP role (with 34 Squadron) until 1968 when it was transferred to the Navy as N2-123. Kangaroo roundels replaced the RAF roundels in 1956. A52-319 at Perth after its delivery flight to its new home . Owned by Jimmy Woods, it was soon registered VH-WAD. That lasted a few weeks before its provisional CoA was cancelled and it was struck of the register. VH-WAD sat in the open at Perth Airport until 1971. In 1972 it was being shipped to a new US owner when a dispute over payment of shipping costs saw it offloaded in Melbourne. Sat rotting away in the open until 1979 when the Australian War Memorial bought it. Now restored and displayed at the AWM in Canberra. Photo from: State Library of Western Australia

From a collection of photos by Clyde Engineering showing A16-31 at Bankstown after repairs at Clyde's factory at Lidcombe in Sydney. It had been damaged at RAAF Pearce, Western Australia over a year earlier. The expensive exercise to ship the aircraft from the west coast of Australia to the east coast for repairs brought only a short lived benefit. A16-31 crashed and burned at Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, on November 23, 1941. Photo from: Powerhouse Museum
