Delivered to the IAF on 30 March 1985 as K2662. It was reserialled by 2018 into KI2662. The IAF operates seventeen Il-76s that were acquited between 1985 and 1989. The IAF had plans to upgrade the aircraft with PS90 turbofans (like the six Il-78 tankers of the IAF), but it is now said that the fleet will be retired soon. The last flight is expected within a few years. The tasks of the type will be handed over to the C-130 and C-17 fleet of the IAF. The Il-76s are assigned to 44 Squadron "Mighty Jets", based at Chandigarh AFS.

Assigned to 95th BG, 336th BS and arrived on 17 December 1944 at Horam, Suffolk. Reportedly named "Section Eight" and here seen on a mission somewhere over Europe. Damaged on a mission to the railway marshalling yards at Holzwickede on 23 March 1945. On return to England it was likely making for the special battle damage runway at Woodbridge, Suffolk when it collided with another B-17 and crashed at nearby Campsea Ashe.
