The Vanguard was a very capable aeroplane but came on the scene just as turbojets were all the rage. As a result only 44 Vanguards were produced and this is the only surviving example. This aircraft was built at Brooklands in 1961, delivered to BEA and christened 'Superb'. In 1969 it was converted to a Merchantman and would serve BEA/BA until 1981. In 1992 it was sold to Hunting Cargo Airlines and flew until 1996, when it was donated to the Brooklands Museum for display

'Vagrant' was built for BEA in 1946 as a type V.498 but in June 1948 was converted to a type V.657 for BWIA and re-registered as VP-TAX. She returned to England in 1955 to fly for British International Airlines and was later sold to Channel Airlines in April 1959. Her final flight was to Soesterberg in 1964 where she became a cafe for the next 15 years or so. After a short time at Cosford she is now on display in her original BEA livery at Brooklands.

The Viscount was the world's first turboprop airliner, the first production aircraft flew in 1953 and a total of 444 frames were produced. This example was one of the last Viscounts built at Brooklands and was delivered to BEA in June 1958. It also subsequently served with various carriers until 1990 when it was offered to the Brooklands Museum for preservation by British Air Ferries.

N2980 is the only surviving Brooklands-built Wellington. During a training flight on the 31st December 1940 she developed engine trouble and ditched into Loch Ness. All the crew escaped, but the rear gunner was killed when his parachute failed to deploy. In 1976 the aircraft was located by a team of American Loch Ness Monster hunters and was successfully salvaged on 21st September 1985 and undergoing restoration by the Brooklands Museum..

This One-Eleven was retained by the BAC/BAe throughout its 29-year flying career for use as a development and test aircraft for the production variants and for testing technical innovations. One such deveopment is alluded to by the 'Fly-By-Light Flight Control Technology' titles where it was thought that if the flight control inputs were driven by light rather than electrical inputs, then these would be much harder for any putative enemy to jam.

In total 163 Varsities were built and of these 36 came off the production line at Brooklands. This Varsity was the 18th built and delivered to the RAF in 1951 and served until final retirement from No. 6 FTS at RAF Finningley in 1976. It spent the next 12 years at Sibson Airfield near Peterborough before being purchased by Brooklands Museum in September 1988. Note the 'Royal Air Force Training Command' titles and code letter are on the port side only.

Famously retrieved from Loch Ness in 1985, when I took this shot of 'R Robert' I dedicated it to my 94-year old uncle that flew Wellingtons with 218 Sqdn in WWII. While on a raid over Hamburg in March 1941 aboard R1448, he was wounded during an attack by two Me110 night-fighters. Hospitalised on landing, his crew were lost on a subsequent mission

Delta Golf was the third British production Concorde, built for evaluation testing and last flying on 24 Dec 1981 having accumulated 1282 hrs. Then stored at Filton and used as a source of spares for the BA fleet, donating nose to G-BOAF when that aircraft was damaged in 1995. Moved to Brooklands in 2004 in five sections, where as of 2006 it provides Concorde flight experience simulations.
