During the 1989 Flugmeisterschaften fellow AH-photographer Bart Hoekstra and I managed to get entry on Dubendorf on the day prior to the public open house. Unfortunately the sun came in the course of the day. But we did photograph a couple of "new" F-5s.

The P-16 was designed in Switzerland for close-support with short-field performance for Alpine strips. Test flights from 1955 proved promising, so a contract was awarded in 1958 for 100 aircraft. But the first pre-production machine crashed on 25.03.58, causing the government to cancel, buying Hunters from the UK instead. This is the last of five built, restored using parts from another prototype. The P-16 is sometimes dubbed Father of the Learjet, Bill Lear having used design concepts from the project
