GFS has used this 1982-model King Air since 27 April 2007 for the turbine twin segment of its airline pilot training courses. Formerly NSW-based, it was first registered in Australia on 8 December 1987. Before that it was N6236U, N8FF & N5FW. This aircraft seems to have replaced King Air C90 VH-LYG which came a gutser at Moorabbin when the nose gear wouldn't come down in August 2006.

This old Draggie is entirely covered in spraylat for preservation until it can be housed inside. Registered G-AVZD on 6 Dec 1967, it was retained by the manufacturer as a trials aircraft. It was then converted to standard RAAF navigation trainer equipment fit and handed over to the RAAF on 30 Aug 1968. Based at the School of Air Navigation at RAAF East Sale. This became 32 Squadron from 1 Jul 1989. Retired and ferried to the RAAF Museum at Point Cook 20 Jan 2004.

This aircraft is really the former RAAF A68-170, built in 1949. Never actually off RAAF charge, it has been with the RAAF Museum since 1970 and was restored to flying condition during 1989-99. Seen here after an 'interactive' display at the RAAF Museum.
