Over-view to the south-west of historic Point Cook aerodrome. On the southern boundary is the former First World War-vintage seaplane station and jetty, with the modern base area on the western boundary. Point Cook is Australia's oldest operating aerodrome. Land was first purchased for use as a military aerodrome in early 1913 and the Central Flying School opened here shortly afterwards. Today home to the RAAF Museum, you can see two of their Hercules if you look hard!

VH-TPH was a relative rarity in Australia, a genuine Piper Pacer. Tailwheel conversions of PA-22s have been much more common.

At the time of the photo, A3-22 was on loan to the RAAF Museum at Point Cook. It was owned by the Moorabbin Air Museum (now Australian National Aviation Museum) and in 2018 still is. A3-22 is under restoration for static display at Moorabbin airport. Prior to the museum acquiring it, it had been VH-ALV until damaged in a take-off accident at Braeside, near Melbourne on August 26, 1968. Photographer not known. Scanned from the original colour transparency.
