When this picture was taken, this Kiowa Warrior was most probably assigned to the B Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment "Banshee", one of two OH-58D units in the Combat Aviation Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division based at Ft. Campbell (KY). This 559 is a refurbished Fiscal Year 1971 OH-58D. After military service, the Kiowa was placed in storage at 309th AMARG on 22 April 2015. It left the storage depot on 18 September 2017 when it was sold as scrap to HVF West at Tucson.

Former Czech Air Force 0816 was donated to Afghanistan after an overhaul at LOM Praha (Letecké opravny Malesice). It was delivered in December 2007 to 337 Regiment of the Afghan National Army - Air Corp and served since then from Kabul IAP and the Kandahar Air Wing (supporting 205th Corps).

Dusk take-off of a GR4 from the single runway of Kandahar. ZA609 was flown first as a Tornado GR1 on 20 May 1982 and was brand-new delivered to Marham with destination 617 Sqd on 20 May 1982.
