First registered in 1937 as G-AERN and operated post-war by BEA amongst others, this Rapide was exported to Spain in 1954 to become EC-AKO. Restored from 2003, apparently to represent one of three armed DH.89Ms flown by the Spanish AF on policing duties in Morocco pre-war

After many years slowly deteriorating outside, this important exhibit is seen here undergoing restoration. In 1944 twelve Dutch-built Do 24s were delivered to Spain on the understanding they would be used to aid downed airmen of both sides. They operated till 1969; among the survivors, one example now flies as the turboprop-powered Do 24 ATT conversion. The aircraft in this photo is often quoted as cn 5341, but that is only its fuselage number. In fact it is Dornier Werknummer 3406.

This was one of the early He 111 stepped-cockpit variants and was operated by Spain's Condor Legion in the 1938 Civil War. About 60 surviving He 111s joined the Spanish AF after this conflict, with another six during WW2. The history of this aircraft is unclear but it is certainly not a genuine Spanish air force Storch. The reported construction number belongs to a French-built MS.500, registered F-BBAS between 1959 and 1966. The Museo del Aire says that it is a Fi 156A obtained from the Autotechnik Museum in Germany. Other sources say it is a Fi 156C-2, with Scramble adding it is a composite airframe, and the c/n is given by others as 2027/2.
