In 1944, twenty-one (Y)R-5A helicopters were converted to R-5D standard through the addition of a nosewheel and a rescue hoist. This one wears post-1947 roundels. It is seen here in North Carolina. We have a nice colour photo of this H-5D, as the designation then was, at Selfridge AFB in 1953. On 14 December 1953 it had an accident at Ellington AFB, Texas while with the 47th ARS. Delivered on May 22, 1981, N512 was returned to the lessor and stored at Atlantic City, NJ in April 1982. Placed with Empire Airlines in June 1983, mergers followed; Piedmont Airlines in May 1986 (re-registered N495US in December 1988) and US Air in August 1998. Bought by Fokker (PH-ZCC) in 1996, the F-28 next flew for Mafira Air Charter (9M-AMZ) 1997 - 99 when leased to Pelangi Airways. Sold to Bali Air (PK-KFD) in June 2000, the aircraft last flew with Batavia Air (PK-YCM) from June 2002 until stored by 2005. It was broken up at Soekarno-Hatta International airport in Jakarta in May 2008.

First known as Resort Commuter Airlines from 1975, Mid-South Airlines was re-named in 1982 after acquisition of two Bandeirantes in 1980. The airline was merged with Air Virginia in 1984 and this aircraft went to Atlantic Southeast Airlines a year later. Flying with many commuters in the USA, New Zealand and Australia (VH-LSE, ZK-REU, ZK-TZN, ZK-VJG and VH-BQB), it was sold privately in 2010. At the time of uploading an aviation and fire rescue training aid located at the Queensland Combined Emergency Services Academy across the mouth of the Brisbane River from Brisbane Airport in Australia.

Registered as N800LL in 1984, N801G in 1995, N801P in 1993, N217RM in 1995 and N888ZZ in 1998. Cancelled from the register in 2018.
