It was, however, shipped straight to New Zealand in August 1943 and became NZ1051. It served with the RNZAF until 1978 when it was sold. Lovely OY-1 Stinson (a naval version of the L-5E) making an early morning departure from the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in. The aircraft has been restored to accurate markings it wore in USN service. VH-NOY made its first post-restoration flight on 29 March 2007. The aircraft is on the Register with cn '03995', but as far as can be determined this is actually its Bu number.

Owned during 1988-90 by aerobatic ace Chris Sperou, then moved to Alice Springs and Kalgoorlie. Resident in Queensland since Jan 2007.
