This is the sole surviving true JRS-1 amphibian and is the only aircraft in the Smithsonian collection that was stationed at Pearl Harbor on 7th Dec. 1941, being one of ten JRS-1s at the base when the Japanese attacked. All survived and were immediately pressed into service and flew many missions patrolling for Japanese submarines and searching for the enemy fleet. It was acquired by the Smithsonian in 1960 and is now in the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar at the Udvar-Hazy Center.

The Halberstadt CL.IV was one of the best ground attack aircraft of World War I. It performed well in combat as a low-level attack airplane, relying on its good maneuverability to avoid ground fire. 'Flak-Bait' survived 207 combat missions over Europe, more than any other American aircraft during WWII and is currently undergoing restoration in the Mary Baker Engen Hangar of the Udvar-Hazy Center. The Baltimore factory completed the aircraft in April 1943 and the USAAF assigned it to the 449th BS, 322nd BG. Lt. James J. Farrell of Greenwich, CT flew more missions in 'Flak-Bait' than any other pilot. He named the bomber after 'Flea Bait', his brother's nickname for the family dog.

The Spad XVI was a two-seat version of the very successful single-seat Spad fighters of WWI. An otherwise undistinguished aircraft, this Spad XVI on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center is significant because of it's association with Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell. The Ohka 11 was required to be launched within 37 km (23 mi) of the target, making them very vulnerable to defending fighters. The Model 22 was designed to overcome the short standoff distance problem by using a thermojet engine, the Tsu-11. This engine was successfully tested and 50 Ohka 22s were built but never used operationally. This is the only surviving example (marked '59' aft of the blossom) and is on display at the NASM Udvar-Hazy Center.

In 1938 this G-22 was shipped to Europe for an aerobactic demonstration tour, during which the famous German WWI ace Ernst Udet became only the sceond person ever to fly the Gulfhawk II when he piloted it over Germany. In exchange, the usual pilot, Major Al. Williams became the first American to fly the Bf-109. The G-22 is now on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center.
