The ultimate -1 variant that saw many improvements, including the addition of a 160 gal. jettisonable centreline tank and the carrying of two 1,000lb bombs on stub-wing pylons. Goodyear was responsible for many modifications. The FAA flew a substantial number, and those with the British Pacific Fleet removed the red meatball and added bars to the roundel. FAA Corsairs were continuously in action in the final months of the war against Japanese airfields, island installations, ships and strikes on Japan.

Standing inside the hangar at Duxford, this Gladiator flew in 2008 after lengthy restoration. Last of the 25 Gladiator Mk.IIs built under Contract 773235/38, the aircraft was probably delivered to No. 141 Sqn. at RAF Grangemouth in 1939. Transferred into storage and onto 61 OTU in 1943, it was to be converted for meteorological survey work in 1944. Sold postwar to different owners, it was bought by The Fighter Collection and restored with a 'swift volant' on the blue tail as a No. 72 Sqn. Gladiator flown by the 'B' Flight commander.

Built too late to see combat in WWII, this Mustang served with 45th TRS at Kimpo during the Korean War. Authorised for disposal in April 1956 at McClellan AFB, it went to Canada and returned to USA, where it changed hands several times. It was restored at Chino, CA as a TF-51D and flown with drop tanks to Duxford, where it reached on July 4, 2007 and became a part of The Fighter Collection. It is painted to represent Capt Frank Birtciel's P-51D 44-14561, Miss Velma of the 55th FG based at Wormingford.

On display at AAM Duxford. Serving in Vietnam from 1964-71, F-100s were not found suitable over heavily defended N. Vietnam and were assigned to the fighter-bomber role in-country. They flew more missions than the P-51 in World War II. The F-100D was the most widely built model, with over 1200 being produced. Heavily modified in service, the 'Hun' suffered many accidents throught its career. Tailcode 'VM' belongs to 352 TFS 'Yellow Jackets' at Phan Rang AB.
